Lux is a small, private aesthetic medicine practice in Ukiah.
I see a limited number of patients each day.  Most have been coming for years.

About Your Provider

I'm Rachel Barber, FNP-C. I've been practicing aesthetic medicine since 2013. I opened Lux in 2017 to slow down, see fewer patients, spend more time with each one, and practice in a way that reflects how I believe this work should be done.

This is not a typical medspa.

There's no menu here. No pressure to add on. Most visits start with a conversation about what's changed since we last met, what you've been noticing, what matters to you right now. Sometimes that leads to treatment. Sometimes it doesn't.

WHAT MOST PATIENTS COME FOR

The most popular repeat procedure at Lux is wrinkle relaxer, commonly known as Botox. Over time it offers the most predictable and natural-looking results when thoughtfully dosed and placed. I currently offer Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®, all of which are effective when used correctly. If you have no preference, I'll select the most appropriate product and dose for you.

Most patients begin here. During maintenance appointments, we reassess and discuss your skin aging, volume changes, and whether other treatments make sense.

At your first consultation, we’ll create an individualized plan based on your goals, budget, skin condition, age, lifestyle, and what you’re willing to maintain. That conversation determines what's actually right for you.

Once you become an established patient, we can discuss a more committed, long-term approach. I offer a limited number of advanced treatments focused on skin health, structural support, and collagen regeneration. These are best suited for those willing to invest time, consistency, and care, and are most effective when overall health and lifestyle are a priority.

A NOTE ON AVAILABILITY

Most of my established patients book their next wrinkle relaxer maintenance appointment 3-6 months ahead. The remaining appointment slots are added to the online booking calendar.  New patients typically wait about four to six weeks for their initial consultation with wrinkle relaxer appointment. I keep a waitlist for those who want an earlier opening. If you need same-week availability or more flexibility, a larger or newer practice may better suit your needs.

ON WELLNESS, HORMONES, AND THE BIGGER PICTURE

Many of my patients are navigating perimenopause, hormone changes, GLP-1 medications, and what all of that does to skin over time. I stay informed on these topics because they're directly relevant to our work together.I don't prescribe HRT or weight loss medications, but I'm a resource for honest conversation, and I’ll help guide you toward the information you need to make informed decisions.
