Lux is a small, private aesthetic medicine practice in Ukiah.

I see a limited number of patients each day.
Most have been coming for years.

About Your Provider

I'm Rachel Barber, FNP-C. I've been practicing aesthetic medicine since 2013. I opened Lux in 2017 because I wanted to slow down, see fewer patients, spend more time with each one, and do this work the way I actually believe it should be done.

There's no menu here. No pressure to add on. Most visits start with a conversation about what's changed since we last met, what you've been noticing, what matters to you right now. Sometimes that leads to treatment. Sometimes it doesn't.

What makes Lux different?

WHAT MOST PATIENTS COME FOR

The most popular repeat procedure at Lux is wrinkle relaxer or neurotoxin. Over time it has the most predictable and natural-looking results in my hands. There are many name brands and they all work well when the right dose is expertly placed.  Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin®, are the ones I currently use.

Most patients begin here. During maintenance appointments, we reassess and discuss your skin aging, volume changes, and whether other treatments make sense.

At your first consultation, we'll create an individualized treatment plan based on what you're looking for, your budget, your skin condition, your age, your lifestyle, and what you're willing to maintain. That conversation determines what's actually right for you.

For patients interested in investing more into aesthetic procedures and skincare, I offer a small number of additional more advanced treatments to improve: skin health, structural support, and collagen regeneration. These work best when your health and lifestyle are optimum.

A NOTE ON AVAILABILITY

Most of my established patients book six to eight weeks out. New patients typically wait four to six weeks for a first appointment. I keep a waitlist for those who want an earlier opening.

If you need to get in quickly or want same-week flexibility, a larger or newer practice will likely serve your lifestyle better.

ON WELLNESS, HORMONES, AND THE BIGGER PICTURE

Many of my patients are navigating perimenopause, hormone changes, GLP-1 medications, and what all of that does to skin over time. I stay informed on these topics because they're directly relevant to our work together.

I don't prescribe HRT or weight loss medications, but I'm a resource for honest conversation, and I'll assist you with finding the information you need to make an informed decision.
